Air Asia Runway Ready Designer Search, Rizman Ruzaini’s Friendly Competition and Entertaining Showcases.

Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-To-Wear is the only reason good enough for me to leave the comforts of my home (I am a hermit and I am proud) and take on the horrendous city traffic. Every other day, I would do whatever it takes to skip peak hour traffic congestions. With the first and second day of KLFWRTW keeping me at the edge of my seat, there was simply no way I would allow myself to miss anything out.

The third day of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-To-Wear 2017 appealed to people of diverse backgrounds by featuring daily millennial favourites including Aria The Label, Sher Twenty3 and Hayden Lim, brands that appeal to fans of bold fashion statements such as FIZIWOO and labels catering to timeless classics such as Atelier Fitton.

The Air Asia Runway Ready Designer Search was among the many shows that I have patiently been looking forward to since day 1. So, how does the search work? Basically, only 2 designers from each ASEAN country will be shortlisted to introduce their designs during Kuala Lumpur’s Fashion Week’s Air Asia Runway Ready Designer Search. The winner of the contest will walk away with Air Asia flight tickets, mentorship and a guaranteed slot to display their full collection for next year’s KLFWRTW. Among the shortlisted designers was our country’s very own Andrew Loh and Phynix Tan Peck Han.

All of the participants put on quite a show if I may say so myself!

Graduate from Malaysia’s Institute of Arts and SML Fashion Academy, Hayden Koh, had six years of experience in the fashion industry before teaming up with Eddy Thong for a fashion label. Like many other local talents, Hayden knew he wanted to be a designer since he was as young as 12 years old. The nature of his designs is to be consistently simple, chic and contemporary for the modern women. I also enjoyed the stunning series presented by Liza Azulkarnian who had worked with celebrity fashion designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Ellie Saab, and Manish Aurora whilst she was in Paris chasing her passion for fashion.

FIZIWOO, a luxury womenswear brand, is a collaboration of two creative minds. Namely, fashion designer Mohd Hafizi and architecture designer, Izree Kai Haffiz. Loved by many socialites, the brand has been regarded as a fierce contender since their appearance in the local fashion scene. I could definitely see why! If I were to describe FIZIWOO’s collection this year in three words, it would be fierce, majestic and dominant.

Alternatively, Atelier Fitton is a menswear fashion label to made to keep men looking smart and dapper at all times. Atelier Fitton is the result of hardwork by designer and architect, Joshua Fitton, who specialises in traditional English Tailoring. Fun fact! Joshua Fittion was also voted as Esquire Malaysia’s 2015 Best Dressed Real Man. Now, gentleman, I doubt you can go wrong with the brand. Ladies? You can thank Joshua later. Last night at KLFWRTW 2017, Joshua showcased his take on the English Country Club with a wardrobe capable of symbolizing the colourful world of the traditional English world of sport.

Day 3 of KLFWRTW ended on a fun note with the VIVO’s Fashion Night Out showcase. Aside from strutting onto the runway in attractive clothing, the models were also seen to be holding and posing with a VIVO V5s, the ideal selfie camera. How cheeky! Some of the models got extra playful and took photos with the audience as well. Unfortunately, I am way too short to be noticed.

VIVO’s Fashion Night Out featured two well-loved brands which were NurFazura’s House Of Doll and RizmanRuzaini.

Every piece from the House Of Doll by Nur Fazura was enchanting! In between all the bold and stylish showcases that I have seen so far, it was delightful to be greeted by pieces that screamed cute and girly for a change. It is needless to say that actress, singer, VJ, TV Host and now fashion designer Nur Fazura herself is as well-loved as her work when she received a huge round of applause during her appearance at the end of the showcase.

Instead of the night concluding with one fantastic showcase, the audience got two! The show also slowly transitioned into a friendly contest hosted by the two minds behind RizmanRuzaini; #TeamRiz and #TeamRuz. Despite it being a fun showdown between two friends, I found myself wishing I had popcorn with me.

While Team Ruz gave the audience something sensual using mainly solid monotone colours, Team Riz played around with patterned designs such as checkers for that extra flare. If it were a real showdown, my indecisive self would hope for a “Neutral” option would be given because both the teams scream “WINNER”!
