To kick-off Women’s Day, WeStyle Asia embarked on a quest to delve deep into the minds of inspiring and empowering real Malaysian women. These women shared real, raw and relatable thoughts on beauty, style and womanhood. This week’s inspiring woman: Stephanie Ti.
Stephanie Ti, a professional lifestyle photographer living both in KL and Perth, has dedicated her life to doing what she loves most, travel and photography. Leaving behind her former career as a lawyer, she went on to pursue her passion as a photographer and world traveller. Her corporate clients include KLCC, Lululemon, Burberry, Tiffany & Co., Salvatore Ferragamo as well as various notable Australian health and fitness institutions. Her Instagram @stephanie_ti features curated photographs from all over the world featuring her personal travels, architecture, fashion and work. A style icon, she was featured in lifestyle magazines such as Malaysian Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar and Nuyou. How could we not be inspired by her?! Even more, here’s what she shared with us:
What does being beautiful mean to you?
The idea of a beautiful woman is all encompassing. She is loving, kind and thoughtful. She is a woman who understands her self worth but doesn’t take herself too seriously. She is comfortable in her own skin and owns her flaws. Her conversations are intelligent, insightful and provocative. Her genetic sequence is unique and there is no other human being like her. That to me is beautiful.
A message you would like to share to all women.
My message is to live out your life according to your rules. Never sell yourself short. Be the best human being for you can for yourself first in order to be the best for your family, spouse, boyfriend, friends. Be kind to yourself. It’s ok to fail and to fall. The important thing is to get up and know you can start all over.
What does confidence mean to you?
Confidence is knowing who you are, your self worth, your interactions and/or relationships with others. In place of fear is calm, courage and fortitude. Confidence to me is also self-efficacy where you believe that you possess the necessary skills, intelligence and ability to do what is required, to handle whatever life throws at you and to make the best of whatever situation you are in.
How would you describe your style?
My style mantra in 3 words – feminine, colourful, classic. “Feminine” because of my love for delicate french lace, form fitting dresses, pearls, camisoles. “Colourful” has always played a huge role in my life. I love the way bold colours can alter my mood on a dull day. “Classics” such as winter faux fur coats, structured blazers, sweaters, pleated skirts are must-haves.
